Our client, a large international producer and marketer of products and services, is looking to recruit an Accounting Manager/Controller to reinforce the plant based in West Flanders.

Reporting to the Regional Controller of the European Business Unit (who is based in the Netherlands), the main responsibilities of this role will include:

- Responsible for the financial reporting and ensuring it is in compliance with local and US GAAP, legal and statutory, internal and external requirements and with the corporate and business unit policies;

- In charge of the internal control and monitoring of processes and procedures in coordination with the local Plant Accountant, the Regional Controller and the Belgium Country Controller;

- Responsible for business partnering: providing operational and financial information to the business in order to facilitate decisions and optimise processes in addition to providing assistance to other functions (such as sales and supply chain) in seeking new business opportunities;

- Providing management information, related to business plans and strategies;

- Execution and control of special commercial agreements with main customers, including a detailed cost calculation method (actual and budget);

- Control of the budgeting and monthly closure process for the plant;

- Responsible for people development: managing and building up a high performance team which includes the direct supervision of 2 plant accountants and the indirect supervision of 3 accountants, as well as the recruitment, development, retention of and providing coaching to the finance employees.


The successful candidate has a Master degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics and/or a professional Accounting qualification, combined with +/- 5 years of financial and managerial experience. Experience with accounting in a production environment is a strong asset in addition to experience with JD Edwards and Excel. A strong understanding of US GAAP and Belgian GAAP as well as knowledge of taxation is highly valued. Experience with the improvement and development of an ERP system is a plus. An excellent knowledge of English is required as well as a good knowledge of Dutch. A first experience with leadership is mandatory.
