My client is a global asset management company who requires a Deputy Head for their Internal Audit group. The Deputy Head of Group Internal Audit will be responsible for managing the team and the planning and delivery of all assignments, including reporting. This challenging role will require the successful candidate to work both in the UK and overseas.
Main roles and responsibilities:
·Developing and delivering a plan of work, approved by the Board Audit Committee
·Managing the allocation of assignments to staff, and planning and scheduling of work with the business
·Ensuring the quality of work completed and outputs produced, including adherence to the relevant professional standards
·Development and maintenance of the procedures and methods for the work of the Group Internal Audit function
·Attendance at exit meetings for audits with adverse opinions and for audit work in complex or challenging areas
·Managing the tracking of issues and actions arising from internal audit work, and those identified by Group Compliance, Group Risk and External Audit
·Liaison with the Global Head of Compliance, in relation to the completion and reporting of compliance monitoring activities undertaken by the Internal Audit function
·Staff management, appraisals, development, and input to the compensation review
·Production of reports for the GMC and Board Audit Committee
·Maintaining relationships with key managers in the business
·Input to/attendance at Group Operational Risk Committee, Group Compliance Committee, and other relevant committees
·Responding to business requests for support and assistance
·Leading special projects and investigations as required
·Provision of data in relation to control activities, to support business development by the Group
·Management of the function’s budgets and costs
Key skills and experience required:
·Extensive experience within the asset management and private banking areas
·Detailed knowledge of the FSA regulatory regime
·Excellent communication skills, particularly report writing
·The ability to work effectively with senior management and Board members
·First class project and staff management skills
·At least ten years of experience in a relevant auditing discipline, including experience at a senior level in Internal Audit
·Fully qualified - a relevant auditing or accounting qualification (or overseas equivalent)
·Ability to travel overseas for up to 40% of your time
·Fluency in languages other than English an advantage
