March 26, 2008 - Robert Walters added yet another win to its list of accolades this year when it won The Asian Banker Achievement Award for Executive Search to the Commercial Banking Industry 2007 in a spectacular ceremony in Hanoi, Vietnam.
This is the highest award available for outstanding contributions in executive search to the financial services industry in the Asia Pacific and Gulf region today. The award plays an important role in cultivating a culture of excellence in institutions, leaders and senior management in the banking industry.
"The benchmark for excellence in executive search to the financial services industry in Asia Pacific and the Gulf region has become incredibly high, as the accomplishments of this year's Award winner demonstrate," says Emmanuel Daniel, president of The Asian Banker. "Given the severe shortages of talent in the middle management layers of financial institutions, Robert Walters's expertise in this field makes an outstanding contribution."
An exclusive audience of top industry leaders from around the world witnessed the award ceremony for 37 of the top professionals in the banking industry in the Asia Pacific region. Among the honoured guests were Mr Joseph Yam, chief executive, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Ms Kannikar Chalitaporn, president, Siam Commercial Bank, Mr David Eldon, chairman, Dubai International Financial Centre Authority and former chairman, HSBC Asia, Sir George Mathewson, chairman Toscafund Holdings, former chairman, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Mr Paul Sarbanes, former chairman, U.S Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Mr Kaspar Villiger, board member, Swiss Re, former president and finance minister, Switzerland.
Robert Walters recognized for outstanding achievements in the category 'Supporting Industry Awards'
With a record year of operating profit increasing by 33 percent over the previous year for its Asia Pacific business, Robert Walters has among all executive search firms increased its visibility the greatest in the region. It represents 40 percent of the Group's net fee income.
The region is now the Group's largest business area in terms of both net fee income and operating profit, with new offices opened in Osaka and Kowloon. With its entry into mainland China, the Group has developed a strong position to leverage on the increasing importance of the markets in North Asia.
Its continuous efforts to enhance its financial specialisation on all staffing areas-the back, middle and front office-with a variety of regional initiatives makes Robert Walters a strong force to be reckoned with in vital support for the financial services industry.
Given the severe shortages in the middle and back offices in the financial services industry, Robert Walters' capabilities are unparalleled in terms of placements and field expertise, having the largest number of placements and greatest combined salary range.

The Selection Process
The selection process begins in November and ends in February of the following year, involving a team of about six researchers working in tandem. Candidates do not apply for the award, although third parties can nominate them. The initial selection is through a survey and desk research done by the research team at The Asian Banker. The identified candidates are then subject to further scrutiny through interviews with third parties, including local banking journalists and analysts who have had contact with the candidates, peers and third party reviews. The shortlisted candidates are then submitted for a review by the board of advisors, based on a comparative evaluation done by the research team.
