Responsible for the day to day management, maintenance, support, & optimisation of the IT network and systems in the ANZ region. Systems Engineer will work to define the IT requirements of the business and ensure IT services meet or exceed the service level agreements. Systems Engineer will also work to address IT problems & faults, manage changes, plan, test & deliver projects, enhance operations processes, optimise network and system services, and monitor and report IT performance against required metrics.
Service Strategy, Design, Transition & Operations
Assist in defining the overall Service Strategies required to support the business.
Analyse and evaluate new technologies
Design, build, configure and install the functional aspects of network and system services.
Take responsibility for service performance across all offices in the region.
Provide subject matter expertise, and research new technologies and techniques.
Ensure operational support documentation and maintenance guidelines are created.
Input to capacity planning to enable strategic growth / scale of IT.
Performance tuning to ensure equipment is functioning smoothly and to maximum productivity.
Ensure solid backup strategies for each service and ensure these are being properly tested on a regular basis.
Researching, analysing, evaluating and monitoring infrastructure to ensure systems are configured to operate at agreed IT service availability and optimal performance levels
Analyse existing system process and policy and platform design while recommending improvements to operations (network and systems) and integrated hardware, software, communications and operating systems
Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining and administering new and upgraded networks, software applications, servers and workstations
Preparing and maintaining procedures and documentation for Infrastructure inventory, and recording diagnosis and resolution of faults, enhancements and modifications to the Infrastructure environment, and maintenance instructions
Plans, develops, deploys, tests and optimises network and system services, taking responsibility for configuration management and overall operational readiness as per company standards
Support the technical activities of other team members, providing a level of guidance to the team when it comes to technical activities in his/her technical domain.
Help ensure that disaster recovery capability exists for the region, work to maintain the DR strategy outlined by senior IT management.
Work with the regional Incident Management, Service Desk, & Desktop Support teams to provide 3rd line technical support.
Technical Standards, Processes, & Reporting
Support a sustained move to standardised processes and procedures.
Contribute to a mindset of continuous improvement of systems, process, procedure and policy.
As instructed by the IT Operations Manager, be responsible for operational status and / or performance reporting to management.
Monitor system capacity thresholds and report to the IT Operations Manager where capacity tolerances are minimal.
Administer, adhere to and improve change control procedures/processes
Identify, compare and select technology solutions to meet current and future needs.
Obtain and evaluate proposals from suppliers, ensuring that all business and IT requirements are satisfied.
Interact and manage 3rd party supplier relationships (including SLA’s, escalations, contracts, service credits) to buy IT assets and services and ensure the efficient running of the IT infrastructure.
Education and Experience
Educated to bachelor degree or higher qualifications in IT related subject or equivalent (5+ years) extensive technical experience.
ITIL certified, ideally to intermediate/practitioner level with demonstrable knowledge of methods, techniques and tools for planning and organising.
Extensive experience of working with conflicting, highly complex information.
A proven track record of running an infrastructure operations environment to the highest professional standards, including strong service, operation, and delivery process/documentations standards.
Continuous process improvement orientation and experience in an operational context.
Experience with Change and Release Management and ITIL Service Management methodologies.
